Our Club Code of Conduct

This code of conduct are the rules which members must follow in order to maintain membership in the club.

GENERAL:

  1. Members are to adhere to Tread Lightly guidelines. Avoiding environmentally sensitive areas at all times!

  2. Behavior which gives rise to a negative public image for the club or the sport of 4X4 trail riding or the club is strictly forbidden.

  3. The use of alcohol or drugs prior to or during club outings is strictly forbidden. This is grounds for immediate dismissal.

  4. Conduct which the Trail Lead finds dangerous or offensive is prohibited and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

  5. The use of a vehicle on a trail which the Trail Lead judges to be illegal or unsafe is grounds for the trail lead to exclude the member from the event.

  6. Always yield the right of way to other users, especially if they are on non-motorized vehicles or on horseback. (turning vehicle off when encountering equestrian groups)

  7. Do not drive on trails that are gated, marked “closed”, marked “private”, or have other signage, which implies the state of the trail is in question.

  8. During winter use, do not use any trail that is groomed or signed by a season-specific user group (i.e. snowmobiles, skiers).

  9. Do not litter in or pollute the environment in any way. Clean up spills and human waste appropriately.

  10. Do not damage or remove any standing trees or natural features of the trail. Avoid damaging growing foliage especially in the spring.

  11. Members are not permitted to block any admins, moderators or executives on any social media platform.

  12. Bullying of any kind in person or on any social media platform is prohibited and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

CAMPING:

  1. Leave all campsites and lunch-spots cleaner than when you found them.  It is for the benefit of all trail users that we do everything possible to maintain clean campsites and rest areas.

  2. Make sure that human waste is disposed of properly. If there are facilities at your campsite, use them.  Otherwise, bury all human waste far from any bodies of water or environmentally sensitive areas.

  3. Use biodegradable soaps and cleaners only. Cleansers which are not approved for camping use contain phosphates, amongst other chemicals, which may disrupt the ecosystem in which you are using them.

  4. Always ensure that fires are contained and properly extinguished. Also, adhere to posted fire bans and warnings when having a fire.  Do not burn items which release harmful chemicals upon combustion.

  5. Always ensure that all food & food waste is properly stored and disposed of.  Food attracts animals which can make camping dangerous for you or others.

  6. Do not cut standing wood for use in fires. Only use deadfall when collecting wood for campfires.

  7. Try to avoid glass food containers. Glass containers can break which can lead to dangerous conditions for yourself and future campers.

  8. Be courteous to others who may pass by or be camped in the vicinity (noise, language, etc…). Promote a positive image for our sport and respect others around you.
